The Al Kamil and Al Wafi–Sur section belongs to the Sultan Turki bin Said road, historically described as the Ash Sharqiyah Expressway. The ministry identifies a 52-kilometre dualisation package that includes bridges, tunnels and rainwater-drainage culverts. The wider route is intended to complete road connections between wilayats and governorates.
