The third- and fourth-lane expansion between Rusayl and Bidbid forms part of the Sultan Thuwaini bin Said road corridor. The transport ministry describes a 27-kilometre project extending from Rusayl Bridge to Bidbid Interchange. Publicly listed works include pavement rehabilitation, widened bridges and new crossing structures, with increased traffic capacity as its stated purpose.
